Weight Management Month

October is healthy lung month! While there are several ways to keep your lungs healthy, one of the best ways is to quit smoking commercial tobacco. Often when people quit smoking, they find themselves snacking more to replace the feeling of bringing a cigarette to their mouth. This is a normal part of the quitting process! Choosing balanced snacks can be a great tool to assist in the smoking cessation process. One way to approach snacking is to make sure the snack has a source of protein and a source of fiber. Protein and fiber help keep us full and provide the nutrients needed for a balanced diet. Some examples of protein rich snack ideas include Greek yogurt, nuts, low fat cheese sticks, protein bars, and hard-boiled eggs. Some examples of fiber rich snacks include fruits, whole grain crackers, vegetables, and popcorn. Pair a protein rich and a fiber rich snack together for a balanced way to snack!
