Open to mothers and grandmothers of NHBP Tribal Members, descendants of Tribal Members and Members of other federally recognized tribes, Motherhood is Sacred ® was created to help mothers and grandmothers understand the importance of their role as caretakers through the lens of Native American values. 2. Kwe 2 Kwe {Woman to Woman} July 6 Woman to Woman is a safe, empowering and supportive group for all women. We will share experiences, recipes, skills, childcare ideas, and most importantly, provide each other with emotional strength and connections for a better life! The 33rd annual Michigan Indian Family Olympics will be an online Tribe vs. Tribe competition this year. Each Tribe will compete in their own community. 5. Elders Committee Cookout

Join us at 11 a.m. for food and cold beverages in the great outdoors! Elders are welcome to bring one guest, but must RSVP to this event as space is extremely limited. 6. Cooking Classes
July 8 – Pine Creek | July 23 – Grand Rapids
Tie up your aprons, Tribal Members. NHBP will help you create some delectable dinners with our summer cooking series Dishes for Diabetes. This course will teach you cooking skills to help manage and prevent Type 2 diabetes in a hands-on environment. Classes occur in-person at both the Pine Creek and Grand Rapids community centers from noon – 2 p.m. through August.
July 30 – Virtual
Please join us for a virtual cooking class from noon – 2 p.m., to brush up on your culinary skills while staying in the comfort of your own home! This virtual cooking class is open to NHBP Tribal Members, employees and health clinic patients, but will be limited to 10 participants – so be sure to register before July 23.

NHBP Treaty-Based Natural Resource Use Survey
NHBP Tribal Members are invited to take the NHBP Treaty-Based Natural Resource Use survey! To help gather information about Tribal Members’ current exercise of treaty hunting, trapping, fishing and gathering rights, we are seeking input from NHBP Tribal Members about how you use the resources of the land or water. Your participation is very helpful to our efforts to understand, utilize, and conserve resources and to reaffirm our treaty rights.
The survey will run from now – July 23.
