The NHBP Health and Human Services Department, the Village of Athens and the Athens Township Fire Department are coming together to offer a free drive-thru COVID-19 vaccination clinic Saturday, May 15, from 9 a.m. to noon.

NHBP health officials will be administering the first dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccination to the public at the Athens Township Fire Department located at 130 E. Burr Oak St. in Athens, Michigan.  

The vaccinations are free to the public and there is no appointment necessary to receive the vaccine. The second dose of the vaccine will be available Saturday, June 12, at the same location.

To speed up the intake process the day of and ensure the process goes smoothly, NHBP staff is asking people who plan to attend the clinic to please print and complete a vaccination patient record form, screening questionnaire and consent form. These documents are also available at https://nhbp-nsn.gov/covid-19-vaccination-drive-thru/.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that most people aged 18 years and older get vaccinated against COVID-19 to help stop spread of the infection. Common side effects of the vaccine are pain, redness and swelling in the arm receiving the shot, headache, tiredness, fever, nausea, chills and muscle pain. These side effects typically subside one or two days after you get the vaccine.
