AUGUST NUTRITION NOTES

Coffee

Do you enjoy a nice cup of coffee in the morning?

If you do, that may be beneficial to your overall health! The Dietary Guidelines for Americans support non-pregnant adults consuming moderate coffee intake which is about three 8-ounce cups per day. Compared to non-coffee drinkers, moderate coffee drinkers have shown to be at a lower risk for heart disease and all-cause mortality. Additionally, coffee intake is linked to a lower cancer risk when compared with their non-coffee-drinking counterparts. One possible explanation for this is the high amounts of antioxidants that are found in coffee. While coffee has many benefits, it may not be the best beverage choice for those who are pregnant, struggle with sleep, or have anxiety. Keep in mind about what you are adding to your coffee to make sure it is still a nutritious choice! Cheers!
